Bertha Marie Masecar
1920 – 2016
In loving memory of Bertha Marie Masecar, age 96, who passed away at Princess Court on December 3, 2016.
Bertha was born in Ste. Amelie, MB on February 8, 1920 to Firmin and Adele Marion (nee Roussin). The family moved to the Quibell area in 1938. Bertha worked at a wide range of jobs in her life, tourist camps, a hospital, a cook in the army, tobacco fields, a pie factory and finally at the Dryden Stud Mill (Colenso Lumber) before her retirement. She loved dancing, bingo and playing cards but her biggest love was her family.
Bertha is survived by her daughter Ida Mae (Gordon) Ellek, grandchildren Tara Cope, Jeff Cope and Joe Ellek and great granddaughters Boyanna & Jade as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was lovingly known by many as “Aunt Bertha”.
She was predeceased by her husband Bruce in 1972, sister Marie Delorme and brother Pat Marion.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Princess Court for taking such good care of Bertha for the past 6 years.
A luncheon reception to celebrate Bertha’s life will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ukrainian Hall. Interment will take place at a later date in the St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in Jarvis, ON
